The IGI is a product of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (Mormons). It lists birth and marriage (not death) details extracted from parish registers, Temple records, personal submissions by members of the Church and some other sources. It is intended primarily as an aid for members of the Mormon Church to research their ancestors for the purpose of offering them re-baptism in the temples but is freely available to non-Church members for their own family research.

Sterrys and variants were extracted from the IGI from the LDS microfiche/CD 1992 version and 1998 Addendum for Britain. These are listed below. However, the LDS website has the most up-to-date version.
